Epilepsy
Epilepsy
It started about five years ago as this day-dreamy type of thing. I would zone out for a few seconds and it would only happen every few months. This was not enough to alert a doctor about but I noticed it. I would notice it after I had a couple of drinks of alcohol, so I stopped drinking. When I stopped drinking the “zoning out” would still come. I tried to hide it from others because I felt like I looked funny when this was happening. I couldn’t stand this so I made an appointment with a neurologist and he ran several tests that didn’t show anything. So in silence I still dealt with this. A few years later while on a lunch date with some co-workers I was confronted by one of them who asked, “Do you have focal seizures?” I told her that I had had conversation with my aunt who was having the same symptoms and she was diagnosed with seizures but I have not been diagnosed with anything. So my answer is ”No”.
One day while I was at work I stumbled into someone’s office with the side of my head busted and I did not know what was going on and I could not respond. My co-workers did not know what to make of this situation of course because I never shown any signs before that anything was wrong. The ambulance took me to the hospital and the doctor on call said to contact a neurologist because I have had an epileptic seizure.
